In the autumn of 2017, the life of Raushawn Johnson, a 33-year-old Black / African American man, was tragically cut short in Hartford, Connecticut. On October 7, Johnson was found deceased, leaving the circumstances of his death initially shrouded in mystery. The Hartford Police Department immediately launched an investigation to piece together the events that led to his untimely passing.
For more than two years, detectives diligently worked the case, pursuing leads and gathering
evidence. Their persistent efforts eventually pointed them toward a suspect. In early 2020, the investigation culminated in a significant breakthrough. On January 10, 2020, an arrest warrant was secured for 28-year-old Javon Boderick.
Just over a week later, on January 18, 2020, Javon Boderick was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with murder and criminal possession of a firearm in connection with Raushawn Johnson's death. Following his arrest, Boderick was held on a $1.5 million bond, marking a pivotal moment in the long and arduous investigation and bringing a measure of resolution to a case that had remained open for years.
