On March 15, 2019, 58-year-old Melvin Baskerville was fatally shot in Hartford, Connecticut. The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. in the stairwell of a residential building at 120 Mather Street. Hartford police responded to a ShotSpotter activation and discovered Baskerville suffering from gunshot wounds to the neck and hip. He was transported to St. Francis Hospital for emergency surgery but was pronounced dead shortly before 7:00 a.m.
