On June 7, 2020, at approximately 10:10 p.m., New Haven police and fire departments responded to a report of a person shot in the 1300 block of Quinnipiac Avenue. Upon arrival, they encountered a large gathering in a parking lot and discovered 29-year-old Robert Lee Joines suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Despite immediate medical attention, Joines was pronounced dead at the hospital.
