On June 18, 2023, 17-year-old Makao Moore was fatally shot during a party held on the fifth floor of an office building at 1409 Washington Avenue in downtown St. Louis. The gathering, reportedly organized through social media, attracted numerous teenagers. Around 1 a.m., gunfire erupted, resulting in Moore's death and injuries to eleven other teens, aged 15 to 19. Additionally, a 17-year-old girl sustained serious spinal injuries after being trampled while fleeing the scene.
