On June 20, 2020, at approximately 2:55 a.m., 27-year-old Luis Nelson Perez of Naugatuck, Connecticut, was fatally shot on Elliot Street between Sylvan Avenue and Davenport Avenue in New Haven's Hill neighborhood. Responding to multiple 911 calls and a ShotSpotter alert, New Haven police officers found Perez lying in the street with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
