On July 5, 2021, 22-year-old Ciera "CeCe" Jones Whitfield was fatally shot in the head outside her home near the intersection of Truman Street and Clover Place in New Haven, Connecticut. The shooting occurred in broad daylight, and she succumbed to her injuries two days later.
