Lemule Franklin "Lem" McPherson, a 51-year-old African American police officer in Fayetteville, Arkansas, was fatally shot on April 28, 1928. Born on November 28, 1876, in Washington County, Arkansas, he was the son of Nelson and Annaliza J. "Annie" (Trammell) McPherson. Before joining the Fayetteville Police Department, McPherson worked for the Frisco Railroad.
