Detective Sergeant Samuel Neal McDermott, aged 31, was a dedicated member of the Little Rock Police Department in Arkansas, serving the community for two years. On August 27, 1930, he sustained critical injuries while attempting to apprehend two of six escapees from the Pulaski County Jail.
