On the evening of January 18, 2014, a violent encounter in Little Rock, Arkansas, left one man dead and another fighting for his life. Inside a Chevrolet Tahoe on the 7400 block of Mabelvale Pike, 32-year-old Terrance Brison and 31-year-old Thomas Gilbert were confronted by three heavy-set men who proceeded to rob and shoot them.

Following the assault, the assailants fled the scene. Despite suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Brison managed to escape the vehicle and seek help by knocking on the door of a nearby residence in the 7200 block of Shetland Drive. When emergency responders arrived, they found Thomas Gilbert deceased inside the truck. Brison was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Though he was initially expected to recover, Terrance Brison ultimately succumbed to the wounds he sustained in the attack.

In the months that followed, the Little Rock Police Department investigated the double shooting. On September 10, 2015, authorities publicly identified two teenage suspects in connection with the crime. Warrants for capital murder and two counts of a terrorist act were issued for 17-year-old Tracy Tivon Brown and 18-year-old Tracy Trevor Bailey Jr. Shortly after the announcement, Brown turned himself in to the authorities. However, Tracy Bailey Jr. remained at large.
