On the evening of May 28, 2021, a sense of normalcy in the 1000 block of College Street in Little Rock, Arkansas, was shattered by gunfire. Inside her residence, 44-year-old Tasha LaShawn Johnson, a Black/African American female, was fatally wounded in what police have described as a drive-by shooting that occurred around 6:30 p.m. A family member who was inside the home at the time recounted hearing Johnson scream as bullets pierced through the walls of the house.
The hail of bullets also struck a vehicle outside that contained three children, shattering the back glass, though none of the children were harmed. Another man who was outside the residence was grazed by a bullet but did not require medical treatment.
