In the quiet town of Swifton, Arkansas, a devastating event unfolded, leaving the community in shock. Mary C. McCall, a 79-year-old woman, was found deceased in her home in what authorities have described as a murder-suicide.
On a Sunday afternoon, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office received a distressing 911 call. The call was from the son-in-law of Gayland and Mary McCall, who relayed a chilling conversation he had just had with his father-in-law. Gayland McCall, 78, had told his son-in-law that he had just shot his wife, Mary, and that he intended to take his own life.
Deputies were immediately dispatched to the McCall residence. Upon their arrival, they discovered a tragic scene in the kitchen. Both Mary and Gayland McCall were found with gunshot wounds to their heads. A single-shot, 12-gauge shotgun was recovered at the location.
