In the early morning hours of a July weekend in 2022, a domestic argument in a home just north of Natural Dam, near Van Buren, Arkansas, escalated to a fatal conclusion. Inside the residence, 41-year-old Christina Cypert was shot in the back with an AR-15 following a dispute with her husband, Eathan Cypert. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on what was reportedly July 2nd.
When Crawford County sheriff's deputies arrived at the home, they discovered Christina's body in the front yard.
She had succumbed to a gunshot wound. A subsequent investigation of the scene uncovered a trail of blood and six bullet casings, painting a grim picture of the violence that had transpired.
Later that same night, Eathan Cypert was located by Van Buren police at a rest area on Interstate 40. He was taken into custody for questioning and was subsequently arrested in connection with his wife's death. Gunshot residue was later found on his clothing. He was booked into the Crawford County Jail and held without bond.
Eathan Cypert was charged with first-degree murder with a firearm enhancement. During the trial, testimony was presented regarding prior bruising on Christina and Eathan's history of violent behavior. A jury ultimately found him guilty of first-degree murder. For the crime, he received a sentence of life in prison plus an additional 15 years. An appeal of his conviction was later denied.
