In the small city of Corning, Arkansas, a violent encounter on a Sunday afternoon in June brought a sudden and tragic end to the life of James Edward Prater III. On June 12, 2016, the 55-year-old man was fatally shot in the 800 block of 6th Street. The incident, which occurred around 3:30 p.m., prompted an investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Corning Police Department, the Clay County Sheriff's Department, and the Arkansas State Police.
