On a late September night in 2016, the life of 29-year-old Jonathan Terry was tragically cut short in Little Rock, Arkansas. Terry, a Black/African American male, was discovered lying in the 2600 block of Elm Street with a fatal gunshot wound. The call to police came in at approximately 11:25 p.m. on September 28th, and upon their arrival, officers found Terry unresponsive.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
Investigators at the scene were faced with a perplexing lack of evidence. No shell casings were recovered, and residents in the immediate vicinity reported not hearing any gunshots, leading to the theory that Terry may have been shot at a different location and his body left on Elm Street. At the time he was found, he had no identification on him. The case has remained a mystery, with no arrests made and no suspects publicly identified in connection with his death. The Little Rock Police Department has acknowledged that leads in the investigation have been limited.
Jonathan Terry was remembered by his family as a kind and helpful person. His brother, Greg, recalled him as someone who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Tragically, at the time of his death, Jonathan was the father of a newborn daughter named Jah'zion. His death left a void in the lives of his family and friends, and the unanswered questions surrounding his murder continue to linger. A memorial service was held for him on October 8, 2016.
