On August 7, 2017, at approximately 8:45 p.m., 29-year-old Derek Antonie Duvall was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Valero gas station located at 1201 Central Avenue in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Emergency responders arrived promptly and administered CPR; however, despite their efforts, Duvall succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Hot Springs Police Department initiated an investigation into the homicide, interviewing multiple individuals and following various leads.
On August 23, 2017, authorities arrested 39-year-old Lindaniel West in connection with the shooting. West was charged with capital murder and held without bond at the Garland County Detention Center.
Duvall, known as 'Nookey,' was a lifelong resident of Hot Springs. He was born on April 30, 1988, and was predeceased by his grandmother, Delores Conway; grandfathers, Frank Conway and Willis Duvall Sr.; and his brother, Jeremy Duvall.
