On February 15, 2018, in the small city of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Denise Marie Hildreth, a 49-year-old Black woman, was shot to death in what police would soon call a murder-suicide. She was at a local trailer park when the quiet of the day was broken by gunfire, drawing neighbors and officers to a scene that would leave two people dead and a family shattered.
