In the late hours of a Thursday, on January 16, 2020, the life of 21-year-old Jennifer Salcido-Barreda, a Hispanic female from Little Rock, Arkansas, was tragically cut short. Responding to a call about a gunshot victim, officers from the Jacksonville Police Department arrived at a residence on Braden Street at approximately 11:13 p.m. Inside the home, they discovered Jennifer, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to her chest.
The investigation into the young mother's death quickly
revealed that her death was the culmination of a heated argument. Detectives determined that during the dispute, 24-year-old Carlos Flores-Franco shot Jennifer. Following the shooting, he reportedly dragged her body into the residence, where she ultimately succumbed to her injury.
In the wake of the incident, Carlos Flores-Franco was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He was subsequently held without bond at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility. This violent act left two toddlers without their mother and a community mourning the loss of a young woman remembered for her love for her children.
