In the early hours of a Monday morning in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the life of 36-year-old Antonio Brown was cut short in a burst of violence that also left three others wounded. The shooting, which marked the city's 14th homicide of the year, unfolded around 1 a.m. on August 27, 2018, on 34th Avenue near Fir Street.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they were met with a chaotic and distressing sight.
A family member, in a plea for help for her son, directed them towards a house where a trail of blood led inside. Within the home, they discovered three men suffering from injuries, one of whom was Antonio Brown, who was found unresponsive on the floor.
Investigators at the scene located a live rifle shell casing near Brown's body. Outside the residence, a white Jeep Patriot with a shattered left-side window, bloodstains, and spent rifle casings painted a grim picture of the events that had transpired. One of the surviving victims, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the left eye, was able to provide a description of the assailant's vehicle, described as a 'smokey-gray vehicle' that drove by and opened fire. Another victim was shot in the buttocks.
Despite the initial investigation and the eyewitness account of the suspect's vehicle, publicly available information does not indicate that any arrests have been made in connection with the death of Antonio Brown, nor have any suspects been officially named.
