In the small city of Osceola, Arkansas, a tragic event unfolded that ended the life of Shenekia Carter, a 30-year-old woman. On March 5, 2019, Shenekia was fatally shot, a violent end to a life that included being a mother to six children. The incident began at her apartment, from which she fled across the street to the Osceola Housing Authority office in a desperate search for help after being wounded.
Despite suffering from grievous gunshot wounds to her neck, arm, and head, Shenekia
was able to identify her attacker to the authorities who arrived at the scene. She named her estranged husband, Antonio Carter, as the person who had shot her. Shortly after providing this crucial information, she lost consciousness and would not recover from her injuries. Her life came to an end at the SMC Medical Center in Osceola.
The aftermath of the shooting saw a swift turn of events. Within a couple of hours, Antonio Carter, then 40 years old, contacted the police. He revealed the location of the weapon he had used and surrendered to law enforcement. This led to his arrest and subsequent legal proceedings.
