In the early morning hours of June 13, 2019, the life of 14-year-old Sydney Bolden, a Black female, was tragically cut short in a brutal act of violence in Little Rock, Arkansas. Responding to reports of gunfire, police arrived at a residence located at the intersection of West 16th Street and Cone Lane to discover a grim scene. Inside the home, Sydney and two other women, 27-year-old Dontriece Hughes and 24-year-old Ramonda Holmes, were found deceased, all having suffered from apparent gunshot
wounds.
The triple homicide sent shockwaves through the community, prompting an intense investigation into the violent deaths. It was determined that the three victims were all inside the house when the shooting occurred. In a fortunate turn of events, several children also present in the home were found uninjured by the responding officers. The senseless loss of three lives, particularly that of a young teenager, spurred memorials and vigils as the community came together to mourn and call for an end to gun violence.
In connection with the murders, authorities arrested 42-year-old Torrence Deshawn Price of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Price was subsequently charged with three counts of first-degree murder and possession of firearms. He entered a plea of not guilty to all charges. Following his arrest, he was held in custody on a $3 million bond.
