In the fall of 2019, the life of 20-year-old Keyaria Thompson was tragically cut short in what authorities have described as a murder-suicide. On the afternoon of November 8th, residents of a southwest Little Rock, Arkansas apartment complex were startled by the sound of gunfire. The shots prompted several calls to the Little Rock Police Department, including one from a nearby school which was temporarily placed on lockdown as a safety precaution.
When officers arrived at the Geyer Springs Road apartment, they discovered a grim scene.
Inside one of the units, they found the bodies of Keyaria Thompson and a man later identified as 22-year-old Deaunte Davis. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Based on the evidence at the scene, investigators quickly came to the conclusion that the incident was domestic in nature. It is believed that Davis, who was identified as Thompson's boyfriend, shot and killed her before turning the gun on himself. A weapon was recovered at the location.
The investigation into the deaths of Keyaria Thompson and Deaunte Davis concluded that Davis was the sole perpetrator in the murder of Thompson. As he took his own life at the scene, no arrests were made in connection with her death. The case was closed as a murder-suicide, leaving family and friends to mourn the loss of the young woman.
