In the summer of 2020, the life of 27-year-old Christopher Rey Contreras-Beaty, a Caucasian male, was cut short in Hot Springs, Arkansas. On the evening of Thursday, July 23rd, a call was made to the Garland County Communications Center at 9:24 p.m. reporting a disturbance on Sterling Circle. The caller stated he had been "jumped" and had abdominal injuries, and also mentioned that two people at the scene had been shot.
Deputies from the Garland County Sheriff's Office, along with
LifeNet and units from the Piney Fire Department, were dispatched to the address, arriving at 9:30 p.m.. Upon their arrival, they discovered one victim lying between two cars with apparent gunshot wounds. While assessing this individual, deputies made contact with and detained two men at the scene, identified as Christian Arthur and Bradley Daniels.
A further search of the area led to the discovery of a second victim in the yard, who was unresponsive with gunshot wounds to his chest. This second victim was identified as Christopher Contreras. Medical personnel from LifeNet began treating both victims. While the first individual was transported to a local hospital for his injuries, Contreras was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the initial investigation at the scene, both Christian Arthur and Bradley Daniels were transported to the Garland County Sheriff's Office for questioning. They were subsequently charged with Battery 1st Degree and Murder 2nd Degree in connection with the incident. Both suspects were then booked into the Garland County Detention Center to await legal proceedings.
