In the early morning hours of July 16, 2017, the life of 37-year-old Timothy Edmund Martin was tragically cut short in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Born on November 27, 1979, Timothy, known to many as 'Timmy,' was a father and a well-known figure in his community. He was a graduate of Hot Springs High School and was an employee at National Park Hospital.
Described as a friendly and outgoing person with a great sense of humor, he was a devoted father to his children.
The events leading to his death unfolded in the parking lot of Boot Scooters Kountry Club located on Broadway. At approximately 1:15 a.m., multiple 911 calls reported shots fired in the area. When officers from the Hot Springs Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Timothy Martin deceased inside a vehicle. Investigators believed that the shooting was not a random act of violence and that Martin had been specifically targeted.
The investigation into the homicide progressed, and about a month later, an arrest was made. On August 15, 2017, U.S. Marshalls and officers from U.S. Probation and Parole apprehended 30-year-old Kirkland Litzsey in Little Rock in connection with Martin's murder. Litzsey was subsequently booked into the Garland County Detention Center on a charge of first-degree murder and held without bond. Authorities indicated that the investigation was ongoing and that more arrests were possible.
