On August 13, 2020, at approximately 12:57 a.m., Pine Bluff police officers responded to a reported shooting at a residence on West 17th Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 39-year-old Christopher Gates on the front porch, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County Deputy Coroner.
