In the late hours of a Monday night in Little Rock, Arkansas, a gold Cadillac DTS veered off Green Mountain Drive and crashed. It was September 21, 2020, and inside the vehicle, 41-year-old Christopher Bersett, a White male, was found with a gunshot wound to his chest. The car itself was riddled with bullet holes. Medical personnel who responded to the scene pronounced him deceased. The investigation that followed would slowly unravel the events that led to this violent end.

Christopher Anthony Bersett was born on April 20, 1979, in Belleville, Illinois. He had also resided in Canton, North Carolina, and Sherwood, Arkansas. Those who knew him remembered his enjoyment of simple pleasures: traveling to Hot Springs for magic shows, watching wrestling and the news, and listening to the Gaither Vocal Band and Mark Lowry. He had a particular fondness for sweet tea and McDonald's french fries. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.

The investigation into Bersett's death led authorities to their first suspect, 19-year-old Karlos Bass, who was arrested and charged with capital murder. For a time, the case continued to be investigated. Then, in October 2023, a second individual was charged in connection with the homicide. Clayton Eason, who was 22 years old at the time, was incarcerated in Texas on unrelated charges. He was extradited back to Arkansas to face charges of capital murder and aggravated robbery for his alleged involvement in the death of Christopher Bersett nearly three years prior.
