On an afternoon in Little Rock, Arkansas, the life of Gabriel Carter, a 27-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short. On April 29, 2015, two men, reported to be acquaintances of Carter, arrived at his home on South Fillmore Street. The visit took a violent turn when the men demanded money from Carter. When he was unable to produce any, a confrontation ensued, leading to Carter being fatally shot.
His girlfriend, who was also present, sustained a non-life-threatening injury during the incident.
Following the shooting, the two suspects fled the scene in a silver 2000 Jeep Cherokee. The Little Rock Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide. Their efforts led to the arrest of 35-year-old Bobby Campbell in connection with the murder. Campbell was located at a hotel in Little Rock and taken into custody by police officers and state parole officers. He was subsequently charged with capital murder, aggravated robbery, and first-degree battery.
While one suspect was apprehended, the second individual involved in Gabriel Carter's death remained at large. In the years following the incident, Carter's family has continued to seek justice and answers. They have offered a substantial reward for information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the second suspect, emphasizing their belief that someone in the community holds the key to closing the case. Despite the passage of time, the family remains committed to ensuring that both individuals responsible for Carter's death are held accountable.
