In the early morning hours in West Helena, Arkansas, a violent encounter led to the death of 43-year-old Demarcius Foreman. Officers from the Helena-West Helena Police Department were dispatched to an apartment in the 1200 block of Highway 49 at approximately 4 a.m. on a Monday. Upon their arrival, they discovered Foreman inside a bedroom, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The coroner pronounced him dead at the scene, beginning a homicide investigation into the male's death.
Investigators quickly identified a person of interest in the case, 42-year-old Sherman Lefree Gill of Jacksonville, Arkansas. A search for Gill was initiated, and he was located and arrested in Warren, Arkansas, on a Wednesday following the shooting. He was then transported to the Phillips County Detention Center to await a bond hearing.
Following his arrest, Sherman Lefree Gill was formally charged in connection with the death of Demarcius Foreman. The charges brought against him were severe, including capital murder, aggravated residential burglary, and three counts of terroristic threatening. His arrest marked a significant development in the investigation into the fatal shooting that took place in the West Helena apartment.
