In the winter of 1904, the life of 49-year-old Thomas Gentleman, a Special Agent for the Union Pacific Railroad, was cut tragically short in Omaha, Nebraska. On the frigid day of January 7th, Gentleman was carrying out his duties near Fourteenth Street when he came upon two individuals in the act of stealing coal from a railroad car.
