In the autumn of 1973, a young man named Steven Allan Loughran, an 18-year-old male from Phoenix, Arizona, tragically crossed paths with two individuals who would abruptly end his life. His journey began on October 21, 1973, when he was hitchhiking near Monterey Bay and was picked up by Douglas Gretzler and Willie Steelman. Loughran, seemingly unaware of the violent path his new companions were on, agreed to travel with them to Arizona, even contributing to the cost of gasoline for the trip.
