On a tragic evening in Tucson, Arizona, the life of 53-year-old Maribeth Munn was cut short. On June 13, 1996, she was one of four victims in a brutal robbery and murder that took place at a local firefighters union hall. The night took a horrifying turn when two armed men, later identified as Scott Douglas Nordstrom and Robert Glen Jones Jr., entered the establishment.
Inside the union hall with Munn were the bartender, 50-year-old Carol Lynn Noel, and another couple, 54-year-old Arthur
'Taco' Bell and 46-year-old Judy Bell. The four patrons were held at gunpoint as the assailants looted approximately $1,300 from the cash register. Following the robbery, Nordstrom and Jones proceeded to shoot and kill all four hostages. The victims were reportedly forced to rest their heads on the bar before being shot in an execution-style manner. The grim discovery of the scene was made later that evening by Munn's partner, Nathan Alicata.
The investigation into the quadruple homicide led authorities to Scott Douglas Nordstrom and Robert Glen Jones Jr., who were also linked to another double murder that had occurred just two weeks prior at a smoke shop. Both men were subsequently tried for their crimes. Robert Glen Jones Jr. was sentenced to death and was executed on October 23, 2013. Scott Douglas Nordstrom also received the death penalty for his role in the murders and is currently on death row awaiting his execution.
