In the quiet city of Appleton, Wisconsin, a grim event unfolded on the morning of November 24, 2024, shattering the peace of a neighborhood. Daniel Juedes Sr., a 74-year-old White male, was found dead in his home on South Sanders Street, the victim of multiple gunshot wounds. The discovery was made after police responded to a report of a disturbance involving a weapon at approximately 7:30 a.m. Upon their arrival, officers found Juedes Sr.
deceased at the scene.
The investigation quickly pointed to a suspect, who had fled the residence in a white BMW. A short time later, police located the vehicle and a chase ensued. The driver, identified as 45-year-old Gregory Juedes of Kaukauna, attempted to elude law enforcement. The pursuit ended with police utilizing a PIT maneuver to stop the car. Gregory Juedes then fled on foot but was apprehended after officers used a taser to subdue him as he continued to resist arrest. It was soon revealed that the suspect was the victim's son.
Following his arrest, Gregory Juedes was taken into custody and is being held at the Outagamie County Jail. He has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide, fleeing an officer, and resisting an officer. According to the criminal complaint, a neighbor reported hearing around ten gunshots on the morning of the incident. Investigators found 14 ammunition casings inside the home. An autopsy later revealed that Daniel Juedes Sr. had sustained 15 gunshot wounds.
During the transport to the hospital after his arrest, Gregory Juedes reportedly made statements about the killing, saying, "I think I got him with every round. And then one in the back of the head for good measure." He also allegedly stated, "I went back to check make sure he was down for the count." While a motive for the patricide has not been officially released, the details that have emerged paint a chilling picture of the final moments of Daniel Juedes Sr.'s life. Gregory Juedes made his initial court appearance where a $2 million cash bond was set.
