In the early morning hours of June 20, 2021, a chaotic and ultimately fatal encounter unfolded in Appleton, Wisconsin, ending the life of 38-year-old Jonathan James Tolley, a White male. The incident began around 4:30 a.m. when police received a call about a suspicious person in the 2800 block of E. Newberry St. As officers were on their way, a second, more frantic 911 call came from residents of a home in the area, reporting that an unknown man had broken into their house.
