In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in Portsmouth, Virginia, the community was shaken by an act of violence that claimed the life of Anthony Lamont Jones, a 32-year-old male. On December 11, 2024, at approximately 10:03 p.m., police responded to a call about an unresponsive person at the intersection of Prentis Avenue and Race Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Jones suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
