In a quiet West Valley City neighborhood, just outside of Salt Lake City, a devastating scene unfolded around December 14, 2024. Eight-year-old Asian female, Kristina Ree, was found deceased in her home in what authorities have described as a murder-suicide. The grim discovery included the deaths of her mother, 38-year-old Bu Meh, her 11-year-old brother, Boe Reh, and her 2-year-old sister, Nyay Meh.

The investigation into the tragedy revealed that Kristina's father, 42-year-old Dae Rah, was the perpetrator. It is believed that sometime between the late evening of December 13th and the early morning of December 14th, Dae Rah shot and killed his wife and three of their children before taking his own life. The family was discovered in their home on South Oxford Way days later.

Miraculously, there was one survivor in the horrific event. Kristina's 17-year-old brother, Sha Reh, was found alive in the garage, having sustained a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of a traumatic brain injury.

The tight-knit community was left in shock and mourning. A funeral service for Bu Meh and her three children was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Colombus Branch in Salt Lake City, where friends and family gathered to remember the lives lost. Family friends recalled Kristina and her siblings as bright and joyful, making the loss even more difficult to comprehend. The motive behind Dae Rah's actions has not been publicly released, leaving a community to grapple with the immense and sudden loss of an entire family.
