In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Nashville, Tennessee, the vibrant life of 18-year-old Ashley Maria Dominguez was tragically cut short. On December 1, 2024, the recent high school graduate was fatally wounded in a shooting that erupted outside an after-hours club on Murfreesboro Pike. Ashley, a young woman remembered for her contagious smile, love of music, and devotion to her family, was a passenger in a car when the violence occurred.
The tragic events unfolded around 5:30
a.m. following a heated argument that broke out among a group of people outside the Hunnii Pot Bar & Lounge. In the midst of the altercation, at least one individual began firing at the vehicle in which Ashley was a rear passenger, along with four other people. The driver of the car sped away from the scene, pulling into a nearby parking lot after realizing that some of the occupants had been struck by gunfire. Ashley and two 19-year-old women were rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for their injuries. While the two older teens were treated and released, Ashley succumbed to her wounds.
In the wake of the shooting, the Nashville community and Ashley’s family were left reeling with grief and a desire for justice. Described as a wonderful sister, daughter, and friend who lit up any room she entered, Ashley had just graduated high school in May and was looking forward to traveling the world. Her family, devastated by their loss, organized a GoFundMe to assist with funeral expenses and held a candlelight vigil to honor her memory and raise awareness about gun violence.
The investigation into Ashley’s death led to the arrests of two suspects. On December 18, 2024, police apprehended 15-year-old Yariel Sandoval in Clarksville. He was subsequently charged with criminal homicide and four counts of attempted homicide. Later, 20-year-old Christian Pierre was also arrested and identified by police as the gunman who had approached the vehicle with a rifle and opened fire. Pierre faces the same charges of criminal homicide and four counts of attempted homicide and is being held on a two-million-dollar bond. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to look into the potential involvement of others.
