In the early morning hours of Thursday, December 5, 2024, a quiet home on Green Meadows Drive just outside of Newberry, South Carolina, became the scene of a violent home invasion that left one man dead and another seriously injured. Kier Leon Marsh, a 31-year-old male, was fatally wounded during the attack. At approximately 2:00 a.m., a 911 call was made by a man who had been shot in the lower torso during what he described as an attempted robbery.
When deputies arrived, they found the injured man outside the residence and soon discovered Marsh's body in the backyard. The surviving victim reported that several men had forced their way into the home, opened fire, and then fled in a dark-colored sedan.
The investigation into the death of Kier Leon Marsh led to the swift arrest of four suspects. Glazariq Diaz Garcia, 20, and Matthew Neal Epps, 24, were apprehended on a Friday afternoon in Newberry. That same evening, Austin Adam George Stanley, 20, was arrested in Myrtle Beach. The fourth suspect, 24-year-old Danny Isaiah Gray, was found hiding under a pile of clothes at a residence in Whitmire and taken into custody by a team of Sheriff's Deputies, SLED Agents, and Whitmire Police.
All four men—Garcia, Epps, Stanley, and Gray—are facing a string of serious charges, including murder, attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, first-degree burglary, kidnapping, and conspiracy. Authorities believe that Garcia initially went to the residence and was let inside, occupying the residents, before Epps, Stanley, and Gray, wearing ski masks, forced their way in to commit a robbery. During the ensuing assault, both Marsh and the other resident were shot. In connection with the manhunt, two other individuals, Parrish Jeral McWatters, 34, and Stephanie Heather Mayer, 28, were arrested and charged with hindering law enforcement and unlawful neglect of a child after they allegedly lied to officers about Gray's whereabouts. Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster described the incident as a 'senseless act of violence.'
