Darreion Davis was a 24-year-old Black man from the Columbus, Ohio, area. In 2019, during his senior year at Grandview High School, he was recognized as an All-Ohio football player.
On the evening of Monday, November 18, 2024, Columbus police were called to an apartment in the 1900 block of Deborah Court in the city's Forest Park East neighborhood. Inside, they found Darreion Davis unresponsive with a gunshot wound.
He was rushed to Riverside Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Despite medical care, Davis died two days later, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 6:43 p.m. Due to the severity of his injuries, homicide detectives had already begun investigating the shooting. Police identified his girlfriend, 20-year-old Alise Schlaegel, as the suspect and stated that the shooting stemmed from an argument over a stereo.
Schlaegel was arrested and initially charged with felonious assault. She was held at the Franklin County Jail, and a court set her bond at $500,000. After Davis passed away, an additional charge of murder was filed against her. In December 2024, a grand jury formally indicted Alise Schlaegel on murder charges. Her case is proceeding through the court system.
