Demonte Giles, a 21-year-old Black male, tragically lost his life in Columbus, Ohio, on April 18, 2025. According to reports, Giles was involved in a shooting incident in the Karns Park neighborhood, specifically in the 1300 block of Linwood Avenue. Authorities responded to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire, where they found Giles suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel transported him to a local hospital, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at 4:38 a.m. on the same day.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding Giles' death revealed that another adult male was also injured in the incident. This second individual, who sustained a gunshot wound, was hospitalized and later reported to be in stable condition. According to his statement to law enforcement, both he and Giles shot each other during an altercation. However, authorities have not disclosed whether any charges have been filed in connection with the case.
The Columbus Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the incident to determine the motive behind the shooting.
