In the crisp autumn air of November, a life was tragically cut short in Midwest City, a suburb of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Jacob Allen Price, a 32-year-old man, was fatally shot on the night of November 19, 2024, at an apartment complex on West Glenhaven Drive. The incident unfolded after an altercation in the parking lot, shattering the evening's quiet and leaving a family in mourning.
Jacob, who was working as a plumber for the union, had recently moved into the apartment complex.
He was navigating the emotional turmoil of a recent breakup and was being comforted by his mother who was staying with him. Earlier in the day, an encounter had reportedly occurred between Jacob and another man who was visiting his ex-girlfriend at the same complex.
Later that evening, Jacob stepped outside of his apartment. His mother then heard a single gunshot. Rushing to the door, she found her son grievously wounded. A neighbor also witnessed the immediate aftermath, finding Jacob bleeding and doing what they could to help until emergency services arrived. Jacob was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
In the wake of the shooting, law enforcement identified a suspect, 36-year-old Ryan Archer. A manhunt ensued, leading authorities to Lincoln County. After a search that prompted public safety alerts, U.S. Marshals apprehended Archer in a wooded area near Wellston on November 27. He was taken into custody without incident and later booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a charge of second-degree murder. According to a witness, Archer had claimed he shot a man in self-defense during a confrontation but expressed he would not turn himself in to the authorities.
