On December 8, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., 21-year-old Keion LaShawn DeGrate was fatally shot in Akron, Ohio's Patterson Park, located near the 600 block of Lucille Avenue. Responding to multiple reports of gunfire, Akron Police officers discovered DeGrate unresponsive in a grassy area near the park's basketball courts. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel.
