On December 10, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Kansas City police responded to a call reporting a man lying on the ground near a parked car at the intersection of 51st Street and Indiana Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 22-year-old Jabrielle Francis, who had been fatally shot. Despite efforts by emergency medical services, Francis was pronounced dead at the scene.
