In the small community of Blue Springs, Mississippi, a life was tragically cut short on November 23, 2024. Jacob Stephen Adams, a 43-year-old male, was killed at his home. The cause of his death was determined to be gun violence. This incident marked the first homicide of the year in Union County.

In the wake of the shooting, law enforcement began an investigation that quickly led to a suspect. Larry Taylor was arrested and charged with the murder of Jacob Adams. The shooting reportedly occurred at a residence on County Road 261 in the Fairfield community. Following the incident, Taylor allegedly fled the scene. Union County sheriff's deputies conducted a search throughout the night and apprehended him the next day on County Road 174 in the Jericho area.
Further details that emerged during the investigation revealed that Adams had been a victim of violence in the months preceding his death. He had reportedly been shot and stabbed in two separate and unrelated incidents in Lee County just months before he was killed. In one of those incidents, Lee County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call on September 1, 2024, regarding a possible shooting and found evidence of a struggle and an altercation between Adams and another individual.
