In the spring of 2015, a cycle of violence in Jackson, Mississippi, culminated in the shooting death of Rayshun Moore. On the evening of May 20th, Moore, a 20-year-old male, was at the Sunset Apartments on Sunset Drive, a complex known to law enforcement for its frequent instances of crime. An altercation broke out, reportedly stemming from a dispute over a car. It is believed that Moore, along with two other individuals, approached a vehicle and began shooting at the two occupants inside.
