In the late hours of a December evening in Jackson, Mississippi, a life was tragically cut short. Camaurice Jashawn Davis, a 22-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on Powell Rhodes Drive on December 14, 2024. Born on February 14, 2002, his life was brought to an abrupt and violent end. Emergency services responded to the scene and transported Davis to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead.

The Jackson Police Department quickly launched an investigation into the homicide. Their efforts led to the identification of a suspect, 24-year-old Dias Ralphieal Thompson. A warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with the fatal shooting. The investigation revealed that Thompson was also sought on five active warrants for aggravated assault stemming from an unrelated incident that occurred earlier in the year.

Just a few days after the shooting, on December 17, 2024, Dias Ralphieal Thompson surrendered to authorities at the Jackson Police Department headquarters. He was subsequently arrested and charged with the murder of Camaurice Davis.
