Cornelius McDonald, a 33-year-old male from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, was a community activist and artist who was well-known and loved throughout the DMV area. Tragically, his life was cut short in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 30, 2024. The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. in the parking lot of Jasper's Restaurant in Largo, where McDonald was fatally shot.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The events leading to his death began with an argument inside the restaurant. According to some sources, McDonald had attempted to de-escalate a conflict between another man and the eventual suspect. The altercation moved outside, where the suspect allegedly followed McDonald and shot him multiple times. The two men were not known to each other prior to the incident.
In the days following the shooting, the Prince George's County Police Department identified 35-year-old Terrelle Bailey of Washington, D.C., as the suspect. Bailey was arrested and charged with first and second-degree murder, along with other related charges. He was subsequently indicted by a grand jury on charges of first-degree murder and two misdemeanor gun charges. Bailey was held without bond.
