On a Friday evening in District Heights, Maryland, the life of 24-year-old Vernon Bond III came to a violent and abrupt end. The setting was a parking lot in the 6200 block of Surrey Square Lane, where on December 6, 2024, at approximately 9:25 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Bond, a resident of Washington, D.C., suffering from gunshot wounds.
Alongside him in the parking lot was 28-year-old Jonathan Jamal Williams, also from
Washington, D.C., who had also been shot. Shortly after being found, both men were pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation conducted by the Prince George's County Police Department indicated that the two men were known to each other.
Detectives believe that an altercation occurred between Bond and Williams, which escalated to the point where they shot each other. The case is being investigated as a double fatal shooting stemming from this dispute.
