On December 9, 2024, at approximately 6:24 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers responded to a report of shots fired at Colonial Park Apartments, located at 4400 East Washington Street on the city's east side. Upon arrival, they discovered 26-year-old Walter A. Lockhart Jr. and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds inside an apartment.
