In the early evening of a December day in Indianapolis, a violent altercation shattered the peace within an apartment building on the city's east side, leaving a young man dead and a woman fighting for her life. Twenty-six-year-old Walter Lockhart Jr. was fatally wounded in the shooting that occurred around 6:30 p.m. on December 9, 2024, in the 4400 block of East Washington Street.
