In the early morning hours of Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, 2024, a grim discovery was made in the 600 block of T Street, Northwest in Washington, D.C. There, authorities found 21-year-old Tavaughn Norde, a Black male from Southwest, D.C., unconscious and not breathing. The call came in at approximately 6:50 a.m., prompting a response from the Metropolitan Police Department and D.C.

Despite the immediate application of lifesaving measures by the emergency responders at the scene, their efforts were in vain. Norde was pronounced dead at the location. His body was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death. The medical examiner's investigation concluded that Norde had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was officially ruled a homicide.
As of now, the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting remain unclear. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case, but they have not yet publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests. Detectives are continuing their search for the individual or individuals responsible for Norde's death. The police department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.
