On a late autumn afternoon in Montgomery, Alabama, the sound of gunfire shattered the relative quiet of West South Boulevard. When police responded to the 900 block of the thoroughfare, just east of Interstate 65, at approximately 4:18 p.m. on November 22, 2024, they discovered the fatal consequences of the violence. A 44-year-old man from North Carolina, Maurice Walker, was found with a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
