On January 6, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., 38-year-old Janell Lopez and 34-year-old Xavier Alvarez were fatally shot in the 7000 block of Calle Fincias in West Bexar County, near San Antonio, Texas. Deputies responding to the scene found Alvarez lying on the ground near a Chrysler Pacifica, while Lopez was discovered inside the vehicle's front passenger seat; both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators recovered several dozen shell casings from at least two different firearms, indicating multiple shooters. The casings formed a trail-like pattern from the street to the front door of a nearby residence, suggesting the assailants fired from multiple positions.

Witnesses reported that during the incident, they observed 49-year-old Nickolas "Blue" Lopez at the front door of the residence, firing both a rifle and a handgun at the victims' vehicle. Another individual, identified as 54-year-old Alfred "Krueger" Lopez, was seen firing two handguns at the back of the vehicle. After the shooting, Nickolas allegedly handed multiple firearms to another person before fleeing the scene.

In early March 2023, law enforcement arrested both suspects in connection with the double homicide. Nickolas Lopez was apprehended in Bexar County and charged with capital murder, possession with intent to deliver, and tampering with evidence. Alfred Lopez was arrested in Corpus Christi and charged with capital murder. Both suspects are believed to be brothers and are being held on $1 million bonds.

Authorities believe the victims were lured to the location where the shooting occurred. The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, highlighting the collaborative effort to apprehend the suspects. As of now, the specific motive behind the killings has not been publicly disclosed.
